MeasurementPrinciple:
IntheTRAPtest,plateletsareactivatedbyTRAP-6,apeptidethatmimicstheactivationofplateletsbytheactionofthrombin.Thrombinisthemostpotentplateletactivator.TheactionofthrombinisnotblockedbytheantiplateletagentsAspirin®orclopidogrel.However,thrombin(andTRAP-6)activatedplateletsareblockedbytheactionofGPIIb/IIIaantagonists(e.g.,ReoPro®,Aggrastat®andIntegrilin®).
